Almost entirely. One of the most common misconceptions is that the "T" in LGBTQ+ is a new addition. In reality, transgender people have been integral to the fight for queer liberation since the very beginning.

Many transgender people are rejected by their biological families. The LGBTQ+ community—specifically gay bars, drag houses, and community centers—became the "chosen family" that took them in.
