But this is not a normal delivery route.
The episode opens with , a stout, smiling milkman in his 40s, balancing two large steel cans of buffalo milk on his ancient bicycle. The bell on his handlebar makes a soft "kring-kring" as he pedals through the sleeping mohalla.
"Profit is not only money, Radha. Sometimes profit is a child who sleeps with a full stomach." "Begum doesn't know," he says softly
He lets him go.
"You gave away tonight's profit again," she says. Not a question. A fact.
He cycles further than usual – past the hanuman temple, past the tube well, into the bad part of town where electricity flickers like a dying memory. The red door is half-buried behind wild vines. Then laughs
Makkhan stops at the doorstep of , a retired classical dancer who has been his customer for 20 years. He places the usual 500ml in her clay pot. But today, the pot is missing. Instead, there is a crumpled note:
"Makkhan bhai," she whispers. "We have no ration. No milk for the children."
Makkhan wipes sweat from his forehead, then points to the empty cans.
