Calculators:
Just as panic sets in, Raj—who had been secretly recording the experiment for his documentary on "Neurotic American Scientists"—accidentally bumps the frequency dial. Leonard gasps back to life, screaming, "I COULD HEAR EVERYTHING! YOU SAID MY LEGACY WAS A DIRTY MUG!"
(To Howard and Raj at the university cafeteria) "Imagine: no more dying. No more funerals. Just a polite, pre-scheduled ‘I’ll be back in 500 years, please don’t touch my comic books.’"
The climactic sequence. Sheldon has modified a medical-grade centrifuge (acquired through questionable means from the university surplus) and has convinced Leonard to participate by threatening to move back in with his mother for six months unless Leonard "proves his friendship through science."
The scene opens on the cluttered living room of Apartment 4A. Leonard is attempting to read a journal article on quantum loop gravity. Sheldon is not at his spot. Instead, he is standing over a terrarium on the dining table, holding a magnifying glass. La Teoria del Big Bang 9x7
"Correction: Tardigrada . They are the universe’s ultimate survivors. They can withstand radiation, the vacuum of space, and—more to the point—your passive-aggressive sighing. I am training them."
"It also opens beer bottles. And it has a laser. A very small, mostly decorative laser."
(Slumps into his spot, muttering) "The betrayal of the scientific method. This is why we can’t have nice things. Or immortality." Just as panic sets in, Raj—who had been
(Panic rising) "You wouldn’t."
"Which is why I’m starting with Leonard."
"Drowsiness is the opposite of my goal. I want to stop all biological function. Like a hamster in a snowbank, but with more math." No more funerals
The experiment goes wrong. The electromagnetic frequency causes Leonard to enter a state of hyper-consciousness while his body becomes temporarily rigid. He is awake, aware, and floating inside the modified centrifuge, completely unable to move or speak.
Meanwhile, Bernadette discovers Howard has secretly built a miniature replica of the Mars Rover to deliver snacks from the kitchen to his gaming chair.
The apartment. Leonard is wrapped in a blanket, sipping tea, glaring at Sheldon. Penny is furious. Howard’s snack-delivering Mars Rover is stuck under the couch, beeping pathetically.
"I’m going to tell your mother you tried to turn me into a human fruit snack."
This episode would air with a special guest appearance by Neil deGrasse Tyson as the voice of Sheldon’s internal monologue during the centrifuge scene, who simply says, "Don't do this, Sheldon," over and over.
