Unlike previous games that used “Rage of the Gods,” Ascension introduces a Rage Meter that builds during combat. When full, Kratos’ blades become enveloped in burning magic, dealing massive damage. However, if you get hit, the meter drains quickly. This forces a more aggressive, risk-reward playstyle.
For the first time, Kratos wields the Blades of Chaos attuned to four elements: Ares (Fire), Poseidon (Ice), Zeus (Lightning), and Hades (Souls). You can switch elements mid-combo, and each has unique magic attacks and traversal abilities (e.g., using Ice to freeze enemies or Lightning to zip across gaps).
