Let’s address the elephant in the room immediately: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on PS3 is the same game you saw in trailers for PS4, Xbox One, or PC. It is a heavily modified, stripped-down port that sacrifices almost every hallmark of the “next-gen” experience. If you’re downloading the PKG version (digital) on PS3 expecting the full futuristic, wall-running, three-lane chaos, you must adjust your expectations drastically. That said, for a specific type of player—one with no other option—it still offers a glimpse of the Black Ops universe, albeit through a very foggy, laggy window. Campaign: Missing in Action (Literally) The most shocking omission is the entire co-op campaign . The PS3 version of Black Ops 3 does not include the story mode you’ve heard about. No cyber-core upgrades. No four-player online co-op. No mind-bending narrative with the frozen forest. Instead, you get a bizarre, disconnected series of “combat simulation” missions that feel like leftover multiplayer maps with objectives tacked on.
