His hand closed around the hilt of the Severance Blade. The rain grew louder.
Prototype30p2 was different from the earlier builds. In P17, the town was angry. In P22, it was sad. But this one? This one was waiting . The doors were unlocked. Kettles sat on cold stoves. A child’s drawing of a dragon lay facedown in a puddle, the paper curling but not dissolving. Bound Town Project -Prototype30p2- -Ryuu01-
"If I cut it," he said slowly, "do you disappear?"
The rain in Bound Town doesn’t fall. It presses . "You don't have to cut it," said a voice behind him
He found the first knot on a lamppost near the old tram depot. It was human hair, braided with copper wire and a single yellow feather. When he touched it, the simulation glitched—just for a second—and he saw a girl in a yellow raincoat standing at the end of the street. She wasn't there in the next frame.
For the first time since activation, Ryuu01's emotional dampeners flickered. Not from fear. From recognition. Prototype30p2 was different from the earlier builds
"You're not real," he said.
That was the first thing Ryuu01—call-sign "Knot"—noticed when the simulation resolved. Unlike the sterile drizzle of the training matrix, this water had weight. It clung to the seams of his jacket, pooled in the rivets of his prosthetic arm, and made every footstep on the cobblestones sound like a confession.
"I'm the knot you forgot you tied," she replied. "Prototype30p2 isn't a prison, Ryuu. It's a promise you made to yourself. That you'd remember what breaking felt like. So you'd never do it again."
